Hello family and friends!
We are at the Singapore Airport after spending 24 hours sightseeing in the City/Country/Island of Singapore. Highlights include seeing a slow loris and getting attacked by flying squirrels (guess which one of us was scared) at the Singapore Zoo Night Safari, eating lots and lots of street food (don't worry Mom and Dad, it looked sanitary), and walking along the Singapore River and Marina.
We spent our first day in Asia in Manila, Philippines. As the Lonely Planet says, "Manila is a hard city to love." (Sorry, Raimundo! Don't worry, you're still our favorite Manila export). We spent most of the time at the Robinson's Mall, which took up 3 square city blocks and had a Starbucks. We also dodged crazy traffic and cock-fighting roosters kept in cages on the sidewalk.
We're now off to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. If all goes as planned, tomorrow we will be hiking in the jungles of Malaysia in Taman Negara, then heading to the Cameron Highlands for a respite from this humidity.
Hopefully we can post pictures soon. Asia is so far ahead of the curve that everyone just has Wifi, so Internet cafes with actual computers are impossible to find.

Love the site. Great work. Ditch the Lonely Planet book, trust the people you meet instead. They'll show you places you can't miss (likely in the book), and places that book would never show you.
ReplyDeleteBut, if you wind up on the back of a motorcycle with a guy named Soi at 3:00 a.m. in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, you should ask him to stop at read lights.
Awesome; now I can give Sumit live updates of how I'm tanking his fantasy baseball team! Jacoby out for the year sucker!
ReplyDeleteThere's no question about it; Sumit was afraid of the flying squirrels. He never would go for walks in the park because of the creatures. Now they have wings? He must be petrified.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! I can't wait to see more pictures and hear about your adventures! Happy trails! HEART Dave & Jimena
